Playgroup

For Children To Recognize And Be Sociable

The Playgroup works with concepts by reaching out to the environment that our little ones are in.  Therefore, as much as they are being taught, the teachers too are learning with them.  The process is two way and this dialogue grows over the year. This method is deeply explored and is the crux to development in a child.

The Play group level is typically the first year of school, all methods are ‘Exploratory’ – by this we mean the touch and feel method. The five senses are induced and aroused so that the child begins to identify concepts. This level also works on socialization as a key to the all around development of the child. Primarily, it is interaction with peer group, teachers, helpers and the world around. Speech then becomes a crucial element in

taking this process forward. The child aspires to form words, understand, recognize and identify sounds. And as the year progresses sentence formation is also noticed, short and comprehendible sentences.

The child now communicates and makes sure that the environment understands their needs and desires. Expressing such wants becomes more easy and ‘doable’ for the child.

Nursery

knowledge to the next level

The Nursery level is an interesting stage where many a child is familiar with the school environment. They now want to take their knowledge to the next level where the mind begins to quickly process everything. Nursery children are open to change, newness to things and have the ability to grasp and absorb everything around them. It is a joy to just watch their antics. There is constant chatter and the teacher has to draw the attention of the class as and when required. The confidence levels are much more and therefore teaching is not repetitive but experimental. The syllabus in the nursery section is both analytical and creative. The child is discerning therefore the teachers can identify what interests the child most.

At this level aspects like – OUTDOOR FREE PLAY, INDOOR FREE PLAY, LANGUAGE EXPERIENCE, SENSORY EXPERIENCE, CREATIVE ACTIVITY is strongly defined in the child.

Kindergarten

Preparatory Sections

LKG

The Lower Kindergarten (LKG) Level is the third stage of preparatory section.  The child is quite independent. A class where there is a continuous flow of complex and imaginative questions. The child’s mind is like a repository of questions to which the environment and facilitators should be able to provide answers. Language development is quite advanced and peer group interaction is versatile.  The child can multi-task and adapt to new ways of teaching and instructions.  They grow to be independent readers and writers.  They are always displaying a sense of curiosity.

With the support of their facilitators, children learn to discover, explore and extend multiple intelligences in arts, science and technology.

UKG

The Upper Kindergarten (UKG) is a stepping stone towards the mainstream programme. In this level the children are creative and eager learners.  They are filled with passion and show progress with more imaginative ideas.  They are full of energy and positive enthusiasm. The syllabus is all compassing and the curriculum is divided in such a way to that the child finds it easier at the end of the year to slip into a more global environment. Subjects like mental math, environmental science, language skill and technique are all dealt with. The child is extremely open to a more structured form of learning environment

To this end, graduating from The Blue Umbrella Preschool  after four complete years gives the child a sense of confidence and the parents are assured that their child is now ready to join the mainstream programme of larger schools.
