CRECHE - A Home Away From Home

Our Creche is a facility which is used by our little ones who are at The Blue Umbrella Preschool and also other school going children. Parents who live in the vicinity have felt this need and therefore our crèche is more a matter of convenience for working parents and we are happy to supplement this need.

We have hand-picked the people who supervise and take care of the children in the creche.

The facilities we provide for children are – proper sleeping arrangements for the children to rest during noon times and warming facilities during the lunch period.  Children are made to wash and clean themselves once they return from school. Our staff supervises this everyday. The numbers at our crèche is limited, as we believe that every child needs the importance that they would otherwise get at home. Our crèche is – ‘Home away from home’

The creche at The Blue Umbrella Preschool is a clean, comfortable and hygienic environment along with child friendly staff. Our timings are from 8.45 am to 7.30 pm five days of the week (from Monday to Friday), on important government holidays, the crèche will be closed, however on request from the parents we are flexible

BHARATNATYAM

Bharatnatyam is one of the most popular classical Indian dances. WE follow the Kalakshetra style of Bharatnatyam. Formats of Bharatnatyam consist of Alarippu (invocation), JathiSwaram (note combinations) Shabdam (notes and lyrics), Varnam(a combination of pure dance and abhinaya) lighter items like Padams and Javalis and finally the thillana (again pure dance). Bharatnatyam is considered the mother art of most of the other classical dances of India and inspires many art forms like sculpture, painting, and icon-making.

This is an ongoing class. Children from the age of 5 years are eligible to join. Examinations ate also conducted for the different levels.

FREESTYLE DANCE

Freestyle carries a significant social importance. Every teacher has their own story about how freestyle has helped instill boys and girls with self-confidence and even alleviate trauma caused by bullying. Parents of students at are grateful that, owing to the training and dedication involved, the children are more focused.

When asked what they enjoy most about freestyle, all of them list the makeup, hair and costumes. Many of them, just like miniature superheroes, say the act of dressing up plays a significant part in their shift of confidence. “I’m quite shy, but when I get on the dancefloor I feel different,” confessed one nine-year-old dancer

CARNATIC MUSIC – Vocal

Carnatic music is traditionally taught according to the system formulated by PurandaraDasa. This involves varisais (graded exercises), alankaras (exercises based on the seven talas), geetams or simple songs, and Swarajatis. After the student has reached a certain standard, varnams are taught and later, the student learns kritis. It typically takes several years of learning before a student is adept enough to perform at a concert.

The learning texts and exercises are more or less uniform across all the South Indian states. The learning structure is arranged in increasing order of complexity. The lessons start with the learning of the saralivarisai (solfege set to a particular raga). This is an ongoing class. Children from the age of 4 years are eligible to join. Examinations ate also conducted for the different levels.

KARATE

Karate is one of the  forms of Martial arts.  Karate is predominantly a striking art using punching, kicking, knee strikes, elbow strikes and open handed techniques.  Grappling, throws, joint locks, restraints and vital point strikes are also taught in a Karate class.  A Karate practitioner is called a karateka. In this age martial arts is form which has to be known by every individual so as to protect themselves from various miscreants.

The School of Martial Art Trust, and Yokahamaainternational karate do, was started in the year 1978 by RenshiShihabudeen, 7th dan blackbelt , International Karate Academy (IKA). The School of Martial Arts, Bangalore conducts classes twice in a week at The Blue Umbrella Preschool and activity centre.

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

Actively learning to play an instrument can help a child’s academic achievement. There’s little doubt that learning to play a musical instrument is great for developing brains. Science has shown that when children learn to play music, their brains begin to hear and process sounds that they couldn’t otherwise hear

Between soccer and scouts, your school-age kid’s schedule is loaded with fun activities. If you’re on the fence about adding music classes to the list, take note of the benefits that come with signing your little one up for violin or piano lessons. Maybe she won’t be the next Beethoven, but she may have an easier time learning math, practicing good manners (including patience!), and becoming a team player.

Keyboard and guitar classes are conducted twice a week at the centre.

DRAWING AND PAINTING

Drawing and painting are fundamental activities in children’s development, as kids express themselves and their emotions through drawing and coloring. That is why drawing is a great way to know what your child is thinking and feeling. Daily drawing improves a child’s mental agility, as she/he is continuously creating and expressing their world through painting. It is one of the most practical activities to motivate learning and boost self-esteem. Painting is a pleasant act that lets children relax, using the most ideal colors to embody their world of fantasy and illusion.  Painting improves kids’ ability to interpret and learn visual language, which will stand them in good stead in the future for appreciating and understanding works of art.

Drawing and Painting classes are conducted twice a week at the centre.

SUMMER CAMPS

The Blue Umbrella Preschool conducts annual summer camps called The Summer Splash at its premises during the months of April-May. Summer is a time where our children are free to use their hands and legs and get creative. The motive is to ‘get dirty’ and get down on your knees to enjoy the sun, sand and indulge in the world of colours and water.

We works on a well knitprogramme to see that all the needs are met in this one month that children are enrolled. We teach children to paint, cut with a scissor, make interesting things out of waste, do non-fire cooking and indulge the child in

all that is a strict no-no at home. We also have a physical activity segment whereout door games are taught. It teaches the child to be a sport and enjoy games with friends. Fellowship and co-operation is also the key element of a conducting a Summer camp at the Blue Umbrella.

The programme aims towards fulfilling the wishes of children who want to indulge in all sorts of fun activities and we at the Blue Umbrella make it happen. Right from art to science to dancing and picnics it is all laid out for your child to enjoy in a safe and conducive environment.

STORY TELLING SESSIONS

Story Telling Sessions are primarily to induce the spirit of enquiry in a child. Story telling is two pronged – To help a child become imaginative and let the child’s mind ‘dream-a-dream’. To be inspired by nature and respect all that comes along with it. The second aim being to ‘listen’ and not just ‘hear’. To instill, the right strength of mind and character in a child. Listening can lead to so many opportunities and ideas in a child.

Our storytelling programme is fun filled, interspersed with animation (puppetry) and activities. Supported by a versatile story tellers who has fine tuned their  skill in storytelling at we at The Blue Umbrella Preschool and activity centre are proud to present such a opportunity to your child.
